Father's Day

I am one of those dads who is absolutely greatful for any amount of time that I get to spend with my children. My daughters are amazing young women in the making and extremely talented as well. Whether it be a full day (my personal favorite) or just getting together for a coffee, I enjoy every single minute of their company. As you can tell, I am very proud of my girls. As far as I am concerned they have the ability to achieve absolutely anything that they put their brilliant minds to.

From the time they each were born I have always felt a "pop" in my heart chakra any time they walk into the room. Maybe this is what they mean when they say that a man is so proud of his kids that his shirt buttons pop. I don't think that it is just pride. I know that it is a deep and unending love that spans lifetimes and multiverses. Even when they want their space, I feel the deep connection between them and myself. Yes, I would prefer to be able to scoop them into my arms and never let them go, but that would eventually kill them as all kids need to be able to get out there into the world and live their own lives.

I know that between their mother and me, as well as all the other dynamic influences in their lives, they will be nicely prepared for life. I am hoping that the lessons that we have missed along the way will be gentle ones for them in the future. And I hope that they can pass on to their children the best of whatever they have received from their parents.

That's just the way I feel on this Father's Day.

Blessed Be

The Moon in My Blood

I can feel it. The moon is in my blood. It has been building for the last few days, and as the Full Moon approaches, it is getting stronger. For me this means that I am going to have to do some ceremony around the Full Moon. I have not yet decided what the ceremony will entail, but by the time the night of the Full Moon arrives I will know and simply do it. I find that ceremony on or around the Full Moon is the most powerful of all. The moon has a way of drawing forth our innermost abilities on a psychic and spiritual level, much like it draws the tides of the ocean. The trick is to breathe with it.

It becomes very easy to lose grounding with such a powerful force of nature. But if we keep our grounding intact we are able to continue with our spiritual work, fly as high as we must, and remain stable throughout the entire experience, thus experiencing it in its totality. So remember to breathe when performing ceremony. Don't allow yourself to become overwhelmed by the power or strength or intensity of the ceremony. Breathe through it and you will be just fine.

The Mystical

I have been doing a lot of outdoor gardening of late. I find that the more I connect with nature, the more I connect with my inner mystical being. In honor of my inner mystical being, I created this mask a few years ago. for me, it represents the connection to earth and sky, fire and water, and a deep psychic connection to all the realms of the universe. We can all connect with the many realms, we just need to train ourselves to do this...without the use of psychotropic drugs and "medicine" plants. People get too dependent upon these substances. The mind does not really need them, other than perhaps once to open the doorway. After that, the use of them is just laziness. I equate it to a perfectly functioning person always having to push the handicap button on the door to make it open for them instead of just reaching out and pushing or pulling the door. We don't need the crutch. We simply need to do the slightest effort of work and there it is.

Some people freak out when they see my mask. They see the beauty, but also feel the intensity. That is why I don't usually have it displayed. I want folks to feel comfortable in my healing space. Now that I have written that, however, I also think it may be time to bring it out again. If nothing else, it will adorn my altar with a reminder of what is naturally within us all.
