Does anyone out there watch Sex and the City? Reruns of it are everywhere. I enjoy this show because it has incredible humor in it. There is a scene where Carrie Bradshaw is looking at a pair of shoes in a window and from her lips comes the utterance, "Hello, Lover!" I laughed myself silly!
Then it happened. Just tonight. It happened to me. I was in a store to try on a pair of shoes. This is no ordinary pair of men's shoes. This is a pair of Cole Haan shoes. Cole Haan was bought out by Nike. Nike put into the Cole Haan shoes their air technology. This pair of fabulous slip on leather shoes does indeed feel like sinking your whole body down into warm butter. And then with the air technology, they are so incredibly light that you can hardly feel them on your feet! They are the absolute sexiest pair of shoes I have ever owned in my entire life. Yes, I bought them. And I didn't even blink an eye! I just bought them. Before I could even think about it my card was whipped out and my John Henry was on the dotted line! Honestly, I want to wear them to bed! This pair of shoes may actually make me want to wear socks! This is something, as previously mentioned in another blog entry, that I hate to do. Socks make me feel like I am suffocating. But socks with these sexy shoes......I will put the darn pair of socks on if it means that I can wear these shoes!!!!
These are the small luxuries and necessities in life. It is important, especially with an Achilles tendon like mine, to have excellent support in foot wear. So this pair of shoes is a must. "I guess that I will try them on if I have to! But I am certainly not sold on liking them and for this price....wait a minute....I get a sensation like that and I only have to pay this much??? SOLD!"
Think good support. If our feet give out, the rest of us have nothing to stand on!

Good Relations
A person should never feel caged in a relationship. Relationships are meant to be learning experiences, but the experiences are better learned in an open and loving environment. When we are in situations where we feel smothered and isolated, we not only have huge rushes of adrenaline that make us feel like bolting for our lives, we also develop respiratory issues on a physical level. This is because of the extremely close connection between the body and the emotions. So it is extremely important to make sure that when we are in relationships we are not being manipulated or controlled by our partners and that we are not manipulating and controlling them.
The most beautiful relationship is one in which both partners accept and love each other and are able to support each others' growth and development. It is one in which just thinking about the other brings a smile to your face and a warm feeling in your heart. It is one in which we become inspired to thank the powers that be, on a daily basis, for bringing us to each other. We may not know what tomorrow brings, but we can be happy and caring today and nurture each other in ways that strengthen each other for whatever may come to us tomorrow.
Spirit would not want anything less for us.

The Winds of Change
For those of you who don't know me, I am an Air elemental. I belong to the Butterfly Clan, according to the Medicine Wheel. We often do 10 things all at one time and multi task with that very well. We are expansive thinkers and very sociable creatures. All of this is wonderful, for a Butterfly Clan person. However, we can also change with the wind. And when we do, we can drive other elementals around us crazy. Just when you think those butterfly wings are nailed down, poof! We flutter off and don't come back for quite some time. We are too busy socializing to be nailed down to anything.
This is actually a delightful medicine to carry. You see, most people find change to be something that threatens them. They have gotten stuck in the fight or flight aspects of reality. Butterfly Clan people take empty handed leaps into the unknown and find ourselves with either a nice solid place to land or with wings that help us learn how to fly more efficiently.
I have recently taken such a leap. I have also experienced the judgement involved in taking that leap. Some find it to be extremely threatening to their paradigm of reality. They respond with hostility and uncertainty about who I am and what I am about. I feel that if they ever really knew me at all, they would have realized that their opinion of me matters little to me. So I am not that concerned by them.
What I am very impressed with is the amount of support that I have received from the community at large. Some have been in exactly my situation and have been way too afraid to do anything about it. They admire my courage. Some are in awe of the fact that I can do what I have to and still do it in a harmonious fashion. And most are very happy for me. These are people who "get it" when it comes to life and matters of the heart. And I just want to put out there that each and every one of them means a lot to me. This is not just because of the support (although that is wonderful in and of itself) but because they are on the journey and having the same challenges and struggling with the same issues. They, like me, are human. They are not caught up in the dogma of expectations. They are simply trying to do what is right for them. So to all of you out there, I thank you. Go gently.
