Self-Responsibility vs Hexes

I have had a number of people over the years come to me and ask me to please remove some hex that has been placed upon them. In some instances, this was warranted, so we did it. In others....well, let's just say that some education was necessary.

First off, not every magical practitioner in the world is one who would or could cast a hex on someone or something. Most don't even have the desire, let alone the know how. What is most common is that someone is attracting negative things into their lives through the lack of self-responsibility and then projecting their misfortunes onto someone else, and unfortunately those someone else's usually end up being their local healer, witch, or shaman.

Having had people actually project that stuff onto myself, I am very suspicious when someone says that so-and-so cast a hex upon them. So I go into this situation with a very critical eye.

What most people don't understand is the insta-karma of negativity within themselves. If we hold anger or fear or hatred within our hearts we are going to attract that into our lives three fold until we let go of the anger, fear or hatred. So the first thing we need to always look at is ourselves. Let's face it, when we are pointing 1 finger at someone else, there are 4 other fingers pointing back at ourselves.

The next thing we need to look at is just how much power we are willing to give over to whomever it is that we are suspecting of casting a hex. If our energy field is strong in and of itself, then there are forces far more powerful at work for us than there are against us. So although we don't have to go around blissfully ignorant of others' maliscious intents, we certainly don't need to allow ourselves to be governed by it. We simply need to let it go and get on our way in life.

Yes, there are ways of strengthening our energy fields. This is what Energy Balancing treatments are all about. And yes, there are ways of releasing hexes, this is what ceremonial healing is partly about. The thing is to be able to discern what is actually appropriate and what is not. The less fear and hysteria we have about this subject matter, the fewer knee jerk reactions we are going to have. Thus the more harmonious our lives become. An inappropriate knee jerk reaction can actually set in motion more negative energy than any of us are prepared to handle. So before anyone accuses anyone else of this sort of hexing activity, it is ultimately important to take a good long look in the mirror and see what is necessary for our own self-healing and self-maintenance.

The Rolling Stone

Yes, we know all about it. It gathers no moss. Most of us are also familiar with the song lyrics, "My father was a rolling stone....wherever he hung his hat, he called home." I think that everyone in the world is also familiar with the Rolling Stones....who isn't? But this isn't about any of that.

This is about a wee little phenomenon called INTER DIMENSIONAL TRAVELLING STONES. Could you hear the deep booming voice over the megaphone? I received a wonderful email today from a friend who was telling me about a special stone she has that went missing and then popped up completely somewhere that she wouldn't have placed it. Her conclusion was that it was needing to tell its stories to the other stones that were gathered around it.

I know that it can be a freaky experience. But I remember not being the only one who witnessed a stone vanish from sight from the surface of the table. Right there in front of us there was a strange light that emitted from the stone and poof it was gone. The other person looked at me and asked what the heck just happened? I explained that some stones travel inter dimensionally so that they can do their work for those who need them. A day or three later we were sitting in the same place having tea when swoosh it was back there right in front of us. The lights around it settled into it and it shone with brilliance, quite satisfied with itself. I laughed. The other person shook her head in wonder.

I often have stones appear out of nowhere while working on people's energy systems. They come to us so that I might lay them on the person and let their healing energies help. Once done, they sometimes stay with me, but they also often travel back to their home, wherever that may be. I know that it is not my conjuring that is bringing them. It is the need of the person on whom I am working. There is a different feeling altogether when I conjure a stone, as opposed to when they just show up out of the blue. That is because conjuring takes a certain kind of focus and building and releasing of energy. I compare it to the difference between driving to a friends home for a cup of tea and the energy that expends in concentration and focus, as opposed to being open to your friend dropping by and then the doorbell rings and there they are, no effort on your part whatsoever.

So if stones can do it.....

Giving and Receiving

Lau-Tzu said,"If you would take, you must first give." This is a very basic law of the universe, yet one that eludes many. I remember being bullied in Junior High and then, later, taking up martial arts. My instructor, also an accomplished acupuncturist and practitioner of Chinese Medicine, asked me why I wanted to learn how to hurt and possibly kill. My response was that I no longer wanted to feel weak and vulnerable around those who would bully me about and possibly beat the bejeebers out of me as they had in the past. He said two things that really stuck. The first thing that he said was,"If you embark on a journey of revenge, you must remember to dig two graves." The second was, "before you can learn to kill, you must learn to heal."

Having been raised with pagan thought systems, the idea of giving before receiving was something that I understood. I was told by my grandmother to always send prayers of gratitude before I received what I desired. Thus, the Goddess would understand that I already have within me that which I desire, and would then respond by bringing more of the same to me. But when it was put into the context of learning to heal before learning how to kill, it quite frankly floored me. Suddenly it all made sense. Had the bullies in my life learned how to heal before they learned how to torment and possibly kill, they would not have even embarked upon the path of bullying! Thus began my training in martial arts. Yes, I had a natural talent because I learned as a young person how to "street fight" and that made me exceptionally resourceful. But my interest soon became an obsession with the healing aspect. I learned many methods and avenues of helping people to heal. Energetically, there is so much that can be influenced in the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual bodies that the results are often profound. At the same time, you cannot learn how to simulate, say, the liver meridian without also learning how to hinder it, causing great pain and illness. Knowledge is the accumulation of information. Wisdom is the appropriate usage thereof.

So I learned how to protect myself. But what was most important was that I learned how to heal myself. I was able to let go of all those aspects of my personal history that no longer served my well-being and embrace aspects that do. I became an energetic adaptogen and in doing so I opened myself to becoming a shaman. That was a title that I resisted for years. It is one that I now wear with great honor. In an age when there are a lot of popcorn elders and shamans emerging from the woodwork, it is important to know that there are some, like myself, who work with honor and integrity. Those who are like myself I embrace with great love and appreciation. Those who are not don't last long enough to worry about.

Crafty and Wise

My eldest daughter, bless her heart, likes to tease me about getting away with things. Innocent things, of course, but she likes to poke fun at dear old dad. I tell her that what she has in youth and vitality I posses in old age and treachery...and I know she has to sleep some time. Her response is that statistically speaking, women outlive men, and that considering the VAST age difference, she won't be worrying about losing much sleep. You gotta love a kid who can think on her feet.

My grandmother and my mother were both very crafty and wise. They had the ability to see into the deepest aspects of one's being and determine if what the person was telling them was true, false, partially true, or whatever. They would also communicate in ways that would turn phrases all around and have a person divulging more about themselves and their intent than the person ever thought he or she did. I hope I have a smidge of that ability myself. In my own crafty and wise way, of course. So I think that the whole "thinking on her feet" thing is something that my daughter comes by naturally.

Part of that is also knowing how to become an adaptogen. I heard that. "What the heck is an adaptogen???" An adaptogen is an ability to energetically meet the needs of the moment. For example, Lavender is an herbal adaptogen. Mist your bed sheets with lavender water a half hour before bed and you will have the deepest and most relaxing sleep you have had in a very long time. This is because it adapts to the needs of your energy in the moment. Part of thinking on your feet has to do with flowing with the need and also with perceiving what is actually going on around you in the moment. Try this sometime. Stand on a street corner and don't blink for about 5 minutes. This is more difficult that it sounds. But often when we blink we miss something. In that 5 minutes you will be surprised what all you see for the first time. A mentor of mine once had me do that while I was talking with him. After 5 minutes my eyes were sore. He asked me how many navy jackets with white stripes down the sleeves I had seen in that amount of time. I told him six. He said only 5 passed in front of me. I reminded him that the sixth one joined the group behind me after they had passed. He smiled. With your eyes wide open, you actually do have eyes in the back of your head.

As we perceive more around us, we are able to respond to what we perceive. Then we go with the flow more easily than we did before. Allowing the senses to awaken after their long sleep can be exhilarating and fun, and for some it can also be scary. But the more we allow ourselves to awaken, on whatever level we choose, the easier and more fulfilling life can become.

Dreamtime

I have no trouble whatsoever falling asleep. I often say that I get paid for only a fraction of the work that I actually do, because my dream time is extremely busy helping others along the way in their dream time. I am a Dream Walker. I send healing energies, deliver messages, create harmony throughout the universe and all that stuff. All in a night's work. It sometimes amazes me that I can actually wake up and feel refreshed. And whenever I don't then I ask that there be another volunteer the following night so that I can just regenerate my batteries. Always works for me. My wife counts me down from 10. She usually gets to 7 and I am snoring.

This frustrates her tremendously. She not only has trouble falling asleep (something to which I cannot relate) but she also wakes up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep. No wonder some mornings she is a wee bit crusty! If I ever experience that, then I am sure that I would be a complete bear in the morning.

She found a "Healthy Sleep" CD that she now listens to. We were talking in bed last night and she said that she was going to put her CD on now. I asked why she still needs it? After all, I was sure that by now she had found her "position" where her body felt relaxed and supported. That is what the CD said to do. She informed me that there was a LOT more to the process than that. This came as a surprise to me, because any time I listened to the CD all I heard was to "Find your position where your body feels relaxed and supported..." and I was then snoring.

Apparently there is much more to this, but every time I have tried to pay attention to the rest I simply miss it. It is like someone has pressed the button for CD Slipstream and I am then suddenly boosted off into the Alpha Quadrant of the Universe. For heaven's sake, what else could there be? I have yet to find out because, try as I might to stay awake to listen, I just can't. So perhaps I do have a sleep disorder, only one that is opposite the one my wife has. Perhaps I should be considering whether or not I should operate a moving vehicle! And maybe this CD really does work! I know I won't be listening to it while driving down the road.

In the meantime, I do know that there are a lot of stress disorders that are directly related to lack of sleep. That part scares me a bit when it comes to my wife's health. I continue to do Energy Balancing treatments for her and also encourage her to take a nap now and then so that she can balance out her sleep. Even if she does lie down, she very rarely naps. I say to just lay there till you drool. That way you know you are at least relaxed. Then perhaps when it comes time for the night time sleep, one will have an easier time getting there, having already prepped the body for the transition.

Sweet Dreams everyone!
